L'Arte D'Arrangiarsi — the art of creating something from nothing.Chef's MenusCustom Service
Chef Joey learned L'Arte D'Arrangiarsi — the art of creating something from nothing — from his Italian family while living in Italy. It's his way of expressing what it means to cook by feel, instinct, and momentary inspiration.
I was born & raised in the San Francisco Bay Area, specifically, San Jose, an area most don't know was predominately developed by Italian immigrants during the late 19th & early 20th centuries. A second generation American, I have Italian heritage on both my mother & fathers paternal sides. With family ties to Taormina & Messina, Sicily, as well as Tornio & Udine far in the north, & family scattered elsewhere, as well as friends who may as well be family in Rome.
My love for cooking began as a small child; sitting on the kitchen counter "helping" my mother make chocolate chip cookies. As soon as I was capable, I began my culinary adventures on my own...even if it was a just box of Betty Crocker Blue Berry Muffin Mix at age 7 (hey, I did it by myself....those picture instructions were fantastic). I graduated from Le Cordon Bleu in Los Angeles, California with honors & haven't touched a box of muffin mix since.
Each year I return to Italy to visit with friends and family. While abroad I learn new skills, techniques, & dishes, in addition to bringing back inspiration that I then pass onto my clients.

Hi Joey. I wanted to thank you so much for such a wonderful job on Sunday. I can’t even tell you how many people thought the food and service was perfection. Having been a caterer for almost 15 years, I was truly happy with everything you did and your service. Thank you again. I wanted to give you wine but I didn’t have a chance to say goodbye. You also left ice cream in the freezer which I ate some of tonight. My husband thought you had such great energy as well and he doesn’t really talk like that. So thank you again.
The meal was FANTASTIC! We loved Chef Joey and will have him cook for us again. The BRAISED SHORT RIBS, BROILED POLENTA, SPRING SALAD and VENETIAN FLOURLESS CHOCOLATE CAKE were AMAZING! Thank you, Joey!
